At Zab Maboungou/Compagnie Danse Nyata Nyata, movement is regarded as a rhythmic structure in which an infinity of breaths alternate. Rhythms allow us to focus on body parts. This requires extreme rhythmic precision in movement, combined with relaxation and fluidity of the body.
While exploring the rhythmic cultures of Africa (in particular, Central Africa), you will be guided to exercise your breathing and develop your strength and flexibility. From footsteps to running, from breaking points to undulation, from stomping to leaping, you will learn some fundamental principles and techniques of the art of dance: posture and alignment, weight transfers, multidirectional planes (articulated bodies, movement and energy, etc.)
Aspects of choreographic work will be examined: analysis of movement, space and musicality, movement and progression, creation of a rhythmic context.
