Lucky Zebila, musician

In June 2009, Lucky Zebila celebrates 55 years of a career devoted to the art of dance, 40 years of which developed while he was in France. He will forever be remembered as the first artist to introduce the teaching of African Dance and Percussion in France.

At the same time, Lucky Zebila is also a pioneer in Congo (Brazzaville) where, at a very young age, he became the choreographer of the young but nationally renowned Ballet Diaboua.

Incensed by Aimé Césaire, the famous poet, Lucky Zebila has been traveling around the world with his agile feet and supple body, introducing the dance and the rhythms of a tradition that has not shied away from contemporary life and aspirations.

Lucky Zebila’s last visit to Montreal was in 1990. We are pleased to welcome him again to this very special 10th edition of Drum and Dance..
